Dr. Martino Presents on the Milestones in Robotic Surgical Training, featuring his new curriculum at 2013 CREOG and APGO Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona

Dr. Martino

Dr. Martino is a Gynecologic Oncology Specialist at Lehigh Valley Health Network

This Saturday, March 2, 2013, Dr. Martino will be presenting a session on Milestones in Robotic Surgical Training featuring his new curriculum.

The breakout session will be held during the CREOG and APGO Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona and  titled “Reaching Your Learners: Achieving  Milestones in robotic Surgical Training”  and designed for program directors and chairs to bring a new curriculum back to their program and participate in a national standardized curriculum.  A concise robotic curriculum with validated assessment tools has been prepared for the presentation. Dr. Martino will also discuss implementation strategies, and provide a mechanism to apply for free training kits to help support resident and fellow education.

“ I would say that the Robotic Training Network is comprised of 9 academic centers who came together over a year ago to work together to help standardize robotic training and education for residents and fellows in OBGYN and Surgery,” explained Dr. Martino.  “We have surveyed the country over the past year seeking the latest training curriculums and come up with a standard blueprint to include the 6 core competencies which are required to be taught to our learners by the ACGME.   We are actively asking any programs to join our network and partners in resident/fellow education.

Dr. Martino went on to say that “Patients and hospitals alike can be reassured that residents and fellows who complete this curriculum have undergone standardized instruction, testing and have been trained to competency during their training in a structured manner.”
