A Technology Leader

Advanced robotic surgery simulation

As a visionary and technology leader, Mimic Technologies has been awarded a number of research grants from DARPA and TATRC, and has completed consulting projects for several medical device and simulation companies. We have built the most advanced robotic simulation technology, and we have a track record of continuous innovation:

In 2007, we unveiled the dV-Trainer™, the first simulator to recreate the look and feel of the da Vinci® Surgery System. This independently validated trainer is now placed at numerous institutions and hospitals in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Mimic’s proprietary surgical simulation platform, MSim™, provides realistic and cost-effective on-demand training for novice robotic surgeons. The dV-Trainer incorporates Mimic’s MScore™, a tool for performance evaluation that uses comprehensive metrics to assess a trainee’s progress over time.

In 2011, the da Vinci Skill Simulator, a virtual reality simulator for the da Vinci Si System, was introduced by Intuitive Surgical. This simulator was developed jointly by Mimic Technologies and Intuitive and is based on Mimic’s advanced simulation technology. Mimic’s a Vinci® simulation training platform is setting a new standard for surgery simulation. With nearly 1,000 installations, no other virtual reality medical simulator has ever been adopted at such a rapid rate.

In 2012, Mimic introduced a number of innovative products that will greatly enhance robotic simulation and training. The revamped MScore™ utilizes experienced surgeon data to provide relevant scoring baselines for all dV-Trainer simulation exercises – an industry first. MShare™ allows institutions to collaborate and share their dV-Trainer simulation curricula and best practices – another industry first. MLabs™ is Mimic’s new robotic dry-labs replicating a number of existing dV-Trainer exercises to provide a continuous training path moving from VR to hands-on training on the actual robot.

The recently introduced MSim 2.0™, a state-of-the-art simulation platform built on the latest rendering technology, simply makes other medical simulation offerings pale in comparison. And with the launch of our Mimic Medical Education and Development subsidiary, we will lead the way in hands-on simulation based training at our new training center in Orlando, Florida. Stay tuned for more Innovation in Simulation!
